ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Born and raised in Washington, DC, owner & designer Sally Steponkus has been decorating homes in the National Capital Region for eight years. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. A semester in Rome, Italy inspired her love of Classical Art & Architecture, from which she draws much of her design style. She describes her work as updated traditional – classic with a unique twist.
Originally from Asheville, NC, Associate Designer Heather Safferstone joined Sally Steponkus Interiors Inc. in 2007. A Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UNC brought her to the Washington area, where roles in the professional services world developed her strong background in project management and client relations.
In a July 2007 Washington Post article, Sally was hailed as one of four young interior decorators "on their way up" in the Nation's Capitol. Named as one of the "Faces of the Future," Sally, the youngest of the four covered whose ages ranged from 30 to 38, and her confreres were called "fresh faces (who) represent a new crop of talent on Washington's design scene."
As a team, Sally & Heather combine practicality with beauty, elegance with ease. Their work has been featured in The Washington Post, Washington Spaces, Home & Design, and have participated in over half a dozen local showhouses.
